Why you should attend The Most Important Healthcare Conference for Employers in 2010:

Your healthcare costs are escalating and will continue to do so! After months of debate, Congress is on the verge of possibly passing the most sisgnificant healthcare reform legislation since the creation of the Medicare program in the 1960s or they may not! Learn what you can do now to better manage your healthcare costs and the drivers that fuel them. This is an opportunity for you to assess best-practice programs and best-in-class partners. Being proactive and empowering employees to be responsible for their own healthcare is one of the most essential strategies to this approach and as you will learn at this conference, it works!

This conference is designed to give you, the employer, the information you need to move forward in addressing the high costs associated with healthcare and to give you some insight into the healthcare movement and what it means for employers. Some of the topics we will cover include:

Managing the increasingly complex and growing world of employee medical issues in the workplace is often a full time distraction.  Untangling the web of related employee leave laws is also one of the most difficult responsibilities an employer faces.  Employers must not only understand the multitude of laws on these issues, but it is critical to appreciate the subtle interplay between such laws.  This breakout session is designed to help employers of all shapes and sizes recognize key issues in administering virtually all types of government mandated leave laws, reconciling those laws with the employer’s own policies and practices, and lawfully managing employee medical issues to the extent allowable under prevailing rules, laws and regulations.  With the onslaught of new legislation, administrative agency rule making and significant case law developments in the area of managing medical issues in the workplace, this session should not be missed.

2:45 to 3:45 Afternoon General Session:  Is Your Benefits Plan a Ticking Time Bomb?
Between constantly evolving federal ERISA regulations, IRS Code and state insurance laws, employers sponsoring benefit plans must constantly manage a quagmire of confusion.  While the confusion over what needs to be done to come into compliance with the various regulations and fiduciary obligations abounds, employers can not afford to wait to clarify this confusion at the point the Department of Labor or a Plaintiff’s attorney shows up demanding to review benefit plan documents.  Employers need to immediately become familiar with benefit plan pitfalls that can lead to costly litigation and/or the disqualification of plans.  This presentation will cover general issues and concerns all individuals administrating and controlling benefit plans should be aware of such as reporting and administration, fiduciary liabilities, and selection of third-party vendors.
