Crain’s just published a story about 3 men from a suburban clinic charged with submitting more than $1 Million dollars in fraudulent workers’ compensation claims.
A physician, a chiropractor and a medical biller from a suburban clinic were indicted Thursday on federal fraud charges for allegedly submitting more than $1 million in false workers-compensation claims, U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald announced.Chiropractor Darwin Minnis, 54, of West Chicago, who owned the Spine and Joint Rehabilitation Center in west suburban Maywood from 1998 until 2009, was charged with 18 counts of health care fraud.
Physician Jacob Salomon, 63, and Gary Strauss, a 31-year-old claims processor, both of whom left the clinic in 2007, were charged with one fraud count apiece, prosecutors said.
The men allegedly filed workers-compensation claims for treatment that was never performed and inflated other bills on care that was provided, prosecutors said.
