He will dispel some of the common myths of spine surgery as well as discuss the various treatment options.</p>
<p>An opportunity to ask questions at the end will be available for those interested.</p>
<p>Dr. Hsu is a practicing spine surgeon and assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Department of Neurological Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. He is licensed in both Illinois and Wisconsin and currently is available for IMEs in both states through Woodlake Medical.</p>
<p>Dr. Hsu earned his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of California-Los Angeles Medical Center.  He then completed his training with a spine surgery fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He specializes in degenerative conditions of the spine, trauma and minimally invasive instrumentation.</p>
<p>Dr. Hsu is the director of the Professional Athlete’s Spine Initiative (PASI), which studies clinical outcomes in elite professional athletes after spine surgery.  He has been internationally recognized for his expertise in outcomes of high-performance athletes. Dr. Hsu is currently a consultant for the Chicago Cubs professional baseball team.</p>

<p>Most understand the general role a cover letter plays in the independent medical evaluation (IME) process, however, few understand what constitutes a good cover letter or the impact it can have on IME outcomes.</p>
<p>Attorney Gene Keefe will provide a road map to writing solid cover letters. He will address how the information you provide in the cover letter impacts the outcome of the IME, the 7 facts of the claim that must be included in the letter and the proper way to pose questions.</p>
<p>An opportunity to ask questions at the end will be available for those interested.</p>
<p>Gene Keefe holds a B.A. from Loyola University of Chicago and a J.D. from John Marshall Law School.  He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association, and Workers’ Compensation Claims Association.  He has served as Arbitrator, Cook County Mandatory Court Annexed Arbitration, and has been Editor of Workers’ Compensation Law Update from July, 1992 to the present. Gene is also an adjunct professor of Workers’ Compensation Law at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, IL.</p>
<p>Gene Keefe is the founding partner of Keefe, Campbell &amp; Associates. The firm specializes in general liability, employment claims, product liability and workers&#8217; compensation litigation throughout the state of Illinois.</p>
